The best part was when they showed him sitting in the driver's seat at the Ferrari dealership and he's putting the windows up and down, then procedes to say, "This thing is so cheap. It doesn't even have push button windows." Man, if I had been standing there I would have backhanded him and taken the keys. What a waste of a beautiful machine.

CLK-GTR
stick him in a 250GTO. no power windows, no AC, no nothing, see his face drop when you tell him that cars worth more than all his others put together.

EMAXX
That guy shouldn't even get to drive the car, much less buy it or whatever he did. I might have to watch that. That show pissed me off so much. The girls are so spoiled. I think that that show ruins it for all the wealthy folks. It sterotypes so much. I wish that people could just be people no mater how much money they have or not. Like my family, we own an electronic store, (not to brag or anything) and we're pretty well off. We have Cadi's and stuff, but we actually apprecate what we have, and we are thankful. We're not jerks, and if we don't like something, we deal with it, not cry and whin about it. I hate shows like that.

It makes it seem like people who are the children of wealthy people never work a hard day in their life.

The only thing I can think of is that a few years ago it was rumoured that Hilfiger said something along the lines of "I never intended black people to wear my clothes"

I always just assumed that was bullshit. Why would the guy care who was buying his clothes if they were making him filthy rich

He's a fucking idiot, that's why. He said something more along the lines of:

If I knew black people, arabs, mexicans, etc were going to wear my clothes, I would have never made the company.

FabUlous
i take that with about as much truth as lauryn hill saying she would rather have her kids starve than a white person buy her album....

i.e. i would like to see both of those scripted so that someone can prove their true

Oh no.. I totally believe it. You have to think from a white supremecists point of view. Although it's the worst business decision one can make, I'm not surprised by some people's moronity. I haven't bought anything of his since I heard this back in 99 maybe.

FabUlous
i always heard it as "oh did you hear what tommy hilfiger said?"......etc

it just seems bordering ludacris that he would say that......

i will gladly retract my statement if given proof otherwise

Sia Bani
There seems to be proof for both sides. I can see it a possibility that "money" got in the way and the Oprah show didn't air this...but who knows.

Abuna
Yeah, I am with FabUlous on this one. I have a hard time believing that he is that obtuse.

However, prove me wrong and I will gladly admit it.

FabUlous
good link sia, but still no dice, i need more than hearsay :tp:

haha I think "ludacris" is a singer :fro:

FabUlous
earth to will, at least i can put up a weblink and not have to know military computer stuff

i would like to thank derek zoolander for the inspiriation behind this post

Sia Bani

Buddy, if you read it all you'd see that it's not a link to prove anything in either direction.

That was my point of providing that link. It shows that there are people that are calling BS, while I could see it being true because it would be bad for ratings (on the oprah show), and bad for business for hilfiger.

There's no way we can know the truth...that's the purpose of the link.

FabUlous
haha i know what youre sayin and i def got that from the link, i guess i was tryin to say i wanna know if he really said that; same with lauryn hill

Yeah, I hate that BS that they're giving a so called "label" to all the wealthy people. Like me, my parents are well off, and I still like to work and make my own money. I've had a peper route in the summer, when I don't have school. (too much homework to do it during school, and all the sports makes it almost impossible to be home before 7) I help out a lot at my parents store. I've mopped up there, rented out movies, helped carry things out to the vans etc. I just wish that people would know that there are some wealthy people out in the world that are nice.

A-Tech
If you watch the show at all you would also see that he donated a buncha money to some african charity for his daughters graduation. I dont think someone who hates black people would do that. Or raise a daughter that wants to visit africa to do some fund raising stuff.

EMAXX, youll find that theres always gonna be someone who ruins stuff for other people, and personally ive met too many rich snobs to not have a bias.

eric
I come from a very wealthy area. I'm not that well off, I remember times when my parents both worked 60-80 hr weeks when I was younger, just so that my parents could live in a decent house in a nice town. I do have alot of friends who are well off, and there is a big disparty between those with a work ethic and those without. I have friends who have no problem working a 40+ hr in the summer, but I also have friends that think working 20 hrs is a lot, and some that at the age of 20 have yet to have a real job. I think that there is a disparity between people who are self made, they tend to instill good work ethics in their childern, and those who inherit their wealth, who don't show their children that they should work hard.

I know. There is always an ass that'll ruin something for everyone else. I hate how somethings work. I've met too many rich snobs too. Thats all my dad's friends are. (I can't believe he calls them friends)

When I think of Hilfiger, I think of poor people trying to bling. I'm sorry its just what comes to mind. I don't really care what Hilfiger says himself, because he's not my problem. If you think what Hilfiger may of said was wrong, take a look at FUBU and any hip hop clothing line and ask them how they feel if white people wore their clothes, I bet a good % of them would say something about crackers or whiteys. Before you condemn a guy off of something he may of said, look at a whole market segment and ask where the racism is.

P.S. I like Prada/Louis Vuitton better than Hilfiger anyway.

Sia Bani
Another potential myth "FUBU= FOR US BY US"

masestylez
Are you sure thats a myth? (My favorite icon is back)

Sia Bani
no, that is why I said another potential myth.

masestylez
By jove it's not a myth it's true! I'm actually surprised, I thought that was bullshit.

mustangdriver
Yeah, I was pretty sure the For us By us thing was true. Can't remember where I heard it.

He's a fucking idiot, that's why. He said something more along the lines of:

so that wasn't a rumor? :wow:

ok.. so what races are "approved" for TH use?

The idiot... well, I don't see him closing his company anytime soon... hypocrite :chair:

I wouldn't know dude... I mean, when was the last time you saw a hispanic or arab or whatever modelling his clothes?
