View Thread: Holy crap, almost hit a few trees tonight

Wow... really high winds here in my neck of the woods. They're a steady 30 mph, gusting to over twice that. Needless to say, there are quite a few trees blown over, blocking lanes in the road. In a 30 minute drive, I had to swerve around about three fallen trees in the road. Then there were big branches, also in the road. That wasn't all, though. Many hanging branches, just ready to smack into my windshield. Lots of swerving tonight.

And you know how you see little animals scurry across the road? I saw branches bigger than my arm "scurry" across the road. Almost sorta unsettling... but the weirdest part? My rear window wiper shot straight up twice on the drive home! I would look in the mirror to see the wiper jutting up into the sky, like I was about to change the blade or something.

And we're supposed to get snow tonight or tomorrow.

Anyways, just thought I'd share. What's the weather like in your area?

That's wierd, we're supposed to get extremely high winds tonight too - around 70mph or more. Wonder what kind of weather system is coming through. Odd for this time of year.

Yea I've noticed that the midwest area is having some tornado warnings tonight with high gusts. All is normal around my parts though so far. Keep safe midwesterners.

The Weather Channel is telling me that this storm is only getting stronger. Maybe they'll cancel school tomorrow!

Austin, Everything north of plymouth road in ann arbor = fucked. no power or anything. I wasnt paying attention and drove right through an intersection.

Then i was coming around a corner, gust of wind... ended up facing the correct way in the opposite lane.... ooops

Geez, good luck with the storm guys. Just to make you feel better our nasty ass cold snap finally broke the other day and now it's a balmy 3 degrees C out. Thats about 37F for those of you south of the 49th.

We lost power at my mom's house in Dexter for a few minutes. No big deal though, it was on within five minutes. But on the way home... lots of driving on Parker Road, and Pleasant Lake Road, if you know where those are. That's where lots of trees were down and stuff. How's your side of town?

And yeah, I had lots and lots of trips into the other lane tonight. All were on purpose though (swerving), so it was pretty interesting.

some big ass trees fell on the power lines right near my house, everyone around me has no power except somehow my block does.
