View Thread: Weekend road trip to Cooter's Garage

I read an article in the paper that Cooter's garage is going to be permanently closing. For those not in the know, Cooter's Garage is a Dukes of Hazzard museum run by Cooter himself (Ben Jones) from the TV show. He lives in Sperryville, VA and has had this museum open for a while. Every August he has a Duke fest and brings all the actors in for a fan weekend. They even do Police car crashes and tons of General Lees show up. Unfortunately he has been really busy lately. Most of the time he just spends at the museum greeting people. I guess his schedule is really hectic and he needs a break. So unfortunately he is closing down the place. Here are a few pics I took.

Just some of the memorabilia. Unfortunately these pics aren't the greatest. They have so much stuff there, it blew my mind. I also recalled what a big fan of it I was of back in the day. I couldn't believe how many toys from the Dukes of Hazzrd I had!! Some of them include the slot car race set, the die cast cars, the action figures, the Daisy Duke Jeep wheel yo-yo, and the list goes on. Ah the memories!

As you can see, there is not too much to this place. If you didn't know what you were looking for you might pass it. The only thing that really catches you eye is the car out front

I might be going back for the last weekend. Sounds like there will be a bunch of people there then as well as folks from the show.

Yeah, some guys on a local forum are planning to cruise down there on Nov. 22nd I think. We should go.

Cool, I'll have to make sure that weekend is clear. That would be fun. I'm at the client site today so no AIM for me. I'll talk to you about it tomorrow.

Crazy Cooter commin at ya.

Guess you got your tires?

Guess you got your tires?

Yes indeed. It took a while to clean and swap them with no lift.

I like the look of these wheels on my car that I may have to order the 18" RS4 wheels as my spring and summer wheels coming up next year!

mustangdriver
Are those your old wheels/tires from the A4?

Are those your old wheels/tires from the A4?

Yep. I was able to get them from my father for the week. So now he has my S4 wheels and tires on the A4. Unfortunately I have to give them back on Sunday. Luckily on Sunday there is a lift session at Audi of Alexandria. It will be a lot easier and faster to swap them there. That is also when I should be able to get my other few mods installed (rear swaybar, boost guage, etc). Too bad I was not able to get them in before the autox.

I think you're set up quite nicely for Saturday. The tires will make a huge difference. I really need a set of tires...

I wish I could go to that museum.
