What are your thoughts on the Ford Lightning SVT?
Im thinkin of sellin the trans am and the truck for a lightning?
I havent driven one yet, because Im afraid if I drive it I'll want it too much...

AZIROC
boo... lol. j/k. imo.. the lightning is a nice sports truck. as long as thats all u want.. IMO nwe silverado SS would be sweet. but ud have to jsut add an aftermarket ati procharger.. then ur be handing lightnings their ass.. and for less overall cost.

AngelicOUTLAW
I found one here in Houston for a pretty decent price...the dealership is asking 21K for a 1999 with 37K miles on it.
The Silverado SS is a mad cool truck, I just know nothing about them...

Get the Lightning because you know that is what you want so badly. I like it also and the S/C must sound pretty tight. I say sell the 2 and try for the SVT.

masestylez
Convert it to 4WD :)

I really like the lightining. A neighbors has one, and I've valted a few. All in places in VA. They are nice trcks. The silverado SS has AWD which is really cool, but I've heard that it's slower and a litte tamer than the Lightining.,

Horus
that's exactly it, tamer.

ever thought about waiting for the viper-powered ram? :bigbounce

eric rxb
It's gonna be too much money. It's gonna be really close to the viper in price.

lexus1581
The SS is a good few seconds behind the Lightning and is more money if i recall correctly. The Ram will be too expensive though and will be only as fast as the Lightning is.

Aquemini
Personally I'd settle for a late model Cobra. I love the Lightning don't get me wrong, but I'd still prefer a Cobra. In a perfect world I'd have both.

I dont care! Im waiting and saving! And then Im taking it to hennessey venom! 1000hp! Can you say ITS RICER EATIN' TIME!

mustangdriver
I gotta agree with Aquemini. You could get a sweet late model Cobra for the same price. BUT the Lightning is pretty damn fast and it's a bit more unique than the Cobra. Plus you can haul some stuff (like ass :D). Not a lot of stuff, but more than a car can.

That sounds like a good price for the Lightning the more I think about it.

Aquemini
It must be nice to live in Texas too. I could never get away with driving a 380 horse RWD truck in the winter around here.

Fast truck+snow = DRIFTING! Almost as much fun as the real thing without the exesive tire were.

AngelicOUTLAW
A Cobra is a lot more on insurace (I think it was $540 more a year). Most Cobra's that I've looked at here have been raced and just run REALLY hard. Its hard to find a clean used Cobra here for a decent price...The SS is nice and all but I think Ford trucks just look better ;)

ksaile
I'd say go for it. It definately will be worth it for the lust factor to you alone. Then you could have all the enjoyment you have between your two vehicles all in one.

scubie02
Yeah, I kind of go with ksaile--you've wanted one forever it seems like and there's nothing like getting what you've wanted (assuming you can afford it ok).

SLP Addict
are you getting the current model, or hte 2004? The 2004 is sposd to run mid 12's stock.

AngelicOUTLAW
Im looking at a 99 or 2000 model....depending on the price, I might go with a 01 though...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2419756418&category=6219 get this one.

AngelicOUTLAW
haha, I think its a little out of my budget :sarah:

The lightning is sweet, but if I were personally gonna get a pickup, it'd be the Harley Davidson edition F-150. In black or silver, they look awesome once you take the pin striping off.

Plus the seats are really really comfortable.

It's more or less a 4 door Lightning (much more practical). It's not quite as fast (340hp and heavier), but I'm sure a few mods will easily change that.

mustangdriver
I think she's looking for a used Lightning which can be found pretty cheap. The HD F-150 is pretty pricey. Still a badass looking truck though.
