The Skoda Octavia WRC is scheduled to have its final outing on the Cyprus Rally, after five years, 48 World Championship rallies, and 111 entries of intense competition. The venerable Octavia is expected to be replaced by the Fabia WRC on the next round of the World Championship in Germany, marking the end of an era.

It's possible to buy Petter Solberg's car after he's used it for two rallies... it's going for 4-5 million NOK (norwegian currency, approx 600-700.000 us dollars)

The Skoda Motorsport World Rally Team got off to a flying start in the Cyprus Rally when Didier Auriol completed the opening stage in third position and Toni Gardemeister was only a few seconds behind in seventh place. Each driver set another top 10 time during the day.

The Skoda Motorsport World Rally Team has been forced to retire from top 10 positions in the Cyprus Rally on the second day. The rate of attrition among the World Championship crews has been incredible today with the Skoda Motorsport drivers among nine leading crews who retired in just six stages.

The Skoda Motorsport World Rally Team was busy today despite retiring from the gruelling Cyprus Rally yesterday. Team driver Toni Gardemeister and Team co-driver Denis Giraudet stayed behind in Limassol to meet the press and also to enjoy a final day of Mediterranean sunshine before flying back home to Finland and France respectively.
