View Thread: SRT-10 Ram vs. SVT F-150

RedLine
Both are the oposite of what a truck was designed for. Both are competative against some sports cars. And both are over powered. And maybe just maybe a new market segment as we go back to high-powerd options on cars.

Lightning all the way :)
Of course Im a little bias though

And why is that?

Im a Ford person....and I have an F-150 that LOOKS alot like a lightning.

Im gonna say SRT10 just cuz it has the Viper engine. That thing can rip some serious assphalt.

though F150 is a great performance trc too. watch out for the next updated redesign. looks great to me.

I will take the Lightning! :woowoo:

I just love a truck with a fvcking viper motor. Serious overkill. Gotta love it.

Not anymore! The 2004 model comes with a 6-speed manual! :D

Give me the Lightning over the SRT-10 any day!

I'd take the lightning in this scenario anyday--just like Ford trucks. And I drove a V10 Dodge truck before and wasn't really all that impressed. The thing is a boat, and had really vague steering. Power was fine, but not really amazing or anything considering.

But I think that was a desile, and the steering should be very good, think, the lightning steering is a lot more accurate than that off the stock ford f150.

Oh, I don't think the old v10 was the viper engine or anything, so I'm sure its faster, but diesels usually have gobs of torque and can be monsters off the line. The dealer also said when I said the steering was really vague and needed constant correcting that that was a "common problem" w/ the big dodge's and something was probably messed up with it and he'd have to check it out. That didn't sound so great either. He didn't seem at all surprised.

According to C/D both of these pick ups will get to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. Also, they say that the better steering of the two is the Dodge. Another pick up to look at is the Silverado SS, btw.

The new ss is no were near that of the older one that shared the name. The new ss is not really a truck in the same class as the ram and the f-150. Case and point is an awd, this in mind only mere squaks from the tires spinning is all you can get:cry: The ss also lacs in the 0-60 takin 6.3 to get there. The SS also has no manual tranny option. 380hp doesnt match that of the mighty dodge. This is not the 7.4L SS of past days but if the vette engine found its way in there id be alot happier.:flame:

I actully saw a black silvy SS the other day.

What did you think of the stanse? I think it might look better another inch lower!

scubie02
AH, performance trucks, the only time you will hear a guy say that an inch smaller might be a good thing...

Funny thing, I saw one today. It rolled into the light and decided to revv on what looked to be a stock GMC 1/2 tonne. Light turns, they go for it. I was behind the GM so I got in on it. Hehe turns out the GM wasnt stock. Left my and his ass in the smoke!

The Dodge, an engine that big should only be in a truck that big.

My gripe w/ Dodge was always that they bunged up their redesign in such an inexcusable way, way back in the day. Most of you guys are probably too young to even remember when they did the redesign to this basic style (w/ the bigger middle/smaller fenders kind of look). Before that, Dodge's were viable contenders in the big three wars. In fact, I really liked the old Power Wagons. Hell, the first truck I can remember in our family was my brother's old 69 Dodge three speed on the column--first manual transmission vehicle I ever drove...hmm, thinking about it, it may have been the first vehicle period--I don't think I even had my license or anything first time he let me drive it.

Anyway, so they had some decent trucks, then they do this redesign, it looks decent, but they put this halfass tranny that's nowhere near enough for the vehicle. After supposedly spending all this money for a redesign, it ties for # 1 in Consumer Reports that year for all time least reliable vehicle ever. I believe they actually said that it was a rare one that went 30k miles w/out a major problem. That was just typical Chrysler at the time...

So I guess partially for me it was a sense of resentment--took a brand truck I used to like and made it a laughing stock...

Doesn't the SRT10 blow the doors off the lightning in the handling department??

I remember some ridiculous skidpad and slalom #'s, for any car, and especially for a truck.

Plus it's fast and badass looking.

I'd definitely drive either though. Although I would buy the Harley Davidson edition F150 before a lighting. More or less a 4 door lightning, slightly detuned. It doesn't look as cool, but much much more practical.

mrjswift
That's tight, GM's are the :pimp:

Mr.Dave
I'll take the Dodge :D

Hey, so how much is the ram going to cost? And does it come in manual standard? Or is that an option/special order?

RedLine
I belive that the AUTO is an option and that the manual in stock. As for price it should run about if not a little more than the ford.

SLP Addict
ill take a 04 Lightning please, 1/4 in 12.5, K Thanks, game over, Tood A Loo dodge!
