View Thread: bikes are like heroin

Once you start, you can't stop till you die.

I drove my freinds hayabusa yesterday back from work because he got his other car working.

I felt yet again the trance of the liter bike. previously the trance hasn't been too bad, I have been able to fight it off, using what little reason I have left to fight the 1000+cc's of hypnotic displacment, but I fear I may be a goner. I wasn't a fan of the busa's emmense heft and it handled poorly compared to the GSX-R750 I had. but oh my god did it have torque. it had so much rediculous pull that it made me giggle and then say, whoa. holy shit.

I see how shaman was drawn into the literbike state of mind now. and his GSX-R1000 is even slightly faster than the busa(IIRC). the busa had what I can only reffer to as unlimited power. or at least it felt like that, at 8KRpms I was like wow, I forgot how serious liter bikes are, and yet it just kept going, way up from there and I was blown away. I have ridden a GSX-R1000, but at the time I was still in the "I drive a CBR 900RR" mindset and the Gixxer completly blew my mind. well now after having had a GSX-R750 for a while(which felt faster than my CBR) I think if I were to ride a Gixxer again I would want it so badly I wouldn't be able to turn away.

I have heard the call of the liter bike and I know not my future

I've always been drawn to biking for some reason, I want an old school bike just to screw around on. But I want to fix up my car first.

Isn't it fun to have loads of horsepower on tap, available at the twist of a wrist?

Get through the traffic, decide to put a little speed on to get ahead of them, twist the grip, go a little faster, look down at the speedo... and Ohmigawd!!

Oh Lord, I hope Julian Solos doesn't find this place!

i am desperate to learn to ride a bike but my parents wont let me. everyone they know who has had fast bikes has had near death crashes. i still dream of owning a GSR1000, hayabusa or R1 someday

Is he the guy that posts crash stastics on motorcycles and compares them to cars?

I too wish to be able to ride a bike some day but as long as my parents are around they won't let me. :curse:

Ya gotta love it. My favorite part is pulling up to a riced out Civic thinking he's fast. Let that 12R scream in his face. That and I like being able to pull onto the Autobahn and within seconds be passing people in the far left lane. It's beautiful. That and bikers get :boobies:

It makes my WS6 feel like a slug.

I pulled a solid sideways burnout today on the way to work. When you get to the point where you are tossing a litre bike around, nothing else is going to be the same.

The '03s are going for $12K Canadian right now at Cycle World. I bet that doesn't help. :)

I rode an litre bike on friday and I must say that I am now screwed. That 12k price tag is looking mighty tempting. The amount of power that they have is beond anything I have ever rode in the past. my 92 ninja now feels completly boring, a bike in the that I had alot of fun with. I really dont need anything like that because I have nowere to really use its power to its fullest potential. But that instant lift of the front end out of the parking lot found me back to 13 and a motocross bike. Maybe I should consider some riding lessons before I think to hard about buying one

I put 12 hours on mine yesterday. Went from here to Lake Placid, did the Blue Ridge road. 15 hours in all.

Try out a new GSX-R 1000 and you will be hooked. I swear, dragging knee on this bike and shooting out of turns with the wheel up is just unmatchable. It makes you into a god if you have the balls and the skills. The emerging crop of litre bikes stomp and handle now. Second choice IMHO would be the 954 Honda Fireblade but you'll want a steering damper for the road - it handles even sharper but doesn't have quite the motor (what does?).
