View Thread: Z31 n/a to turbo question?

The 18th Letter
How hard it is to swap a VG30ET into a n/a '85 300ZX 2+2? I found a cheap n/a auto Z, if the turbo engine swap can be done easily, I'll probably get that as a project car. Anyone has experience with this? maybe k6kicker has some experience with Z31? Thanks in advance.

Edit: Will the turbo engine mounts bolt up to the frame?

z31...not one of my favorite cars, it was an embarrasment tot he z car series, but ummm try zcar.com or some other sites, as i know nothing about dropping a vg30dett in it, although i think an rb26dett would do very nicely, shit, i forgot, the z31 was the first for the v6, i was miatking it for being an inline, errumm rant off look elsewhere tony doesn't know:tahoe:

I've went to another freshalloy.com, they told me the z31 rear suspension is not very good, so I'll have to keep looking. Thanks for the reply.

if you want to go the nissan route, look for a 95 240sx, they had the s14 body style (the badass one) and you can either turbo the ka, or drop in an sr20det (or even an rb seires if you wannt get creative) and can be had fairly cheap, or if you wanna stick to z cars but want it cheap, 240zx with a 350 cant be beat (since the 350 wieghs about the same as the 2.4l I-6 and wont fark up the handling)

If I get a 240sx, I will probably get a S13, (89-94?), It's cheaper than a S14. I have read a RB20DET is a relatively easy swap for the 240SX, and it make power easier than the SR20DET, I'm still looking at this point, but thanks for the suggestion. :)
