View Thread: Wheels for Civics

civic_guy_2000
Ok, i just recently bought a 2000 Civic and i have been thinking about putting new wheels on it...im thinking either 17's or 18's...can anyone tell me if i need to change the suspension any so that it doesnt wear the tires out on the inside...or is that a problem. i was just wondering because someone i know said something about that but im not sure if he knows exactly what hes talking about.

thanks for the help

both will rub without wheel well modifications

even with low pros.

yeah... u can't fit 17's or 18s on a civic. You need to do some wheel ell modifications to make it fit.

Why do you want to put 17's or 18's on?

civic_guy_2000
i wanna put 17's or 18's b/c i think it would look better...im going for looks not speed with this car...

If you're going for looks, why did you pic a car that is so common and ordinary looking?

civic_guy_2000
b/c it was cheap, gets good gas mileage, and its very durable..and believe me...around where i live its not hard to make your car look different than everyone elses..especially if you do it right...ALL of the hondas here are riced the fuck out with their park-bench looking wings and stickers from companies they dont even own any of the products from

Have you guys ever had a Civic?

You can fit 17" on your car without rubbing as long as you don't lower the car. But then it won't look very good. I would not go to 18", mostly because of the possibility of bending a wheel.

If you do lower the car, you may run into slight rubbing depending on how low you go but as long as you keep the correct offset, it should be managable.

Also, if you lower the car you would need to get a camber correction kit so that the tires would wear evenly instead of wearing out on the inside only.

Personally I think a Civic with nice clean 17" wheels looks very nice for what it is.

thanks alot man...thats exactly what i was looking for...

If I were you I would give Discount Tire or Tire Rack a call. They are very helpful and will tell you what size / offset rim and tires you need to get.

Should be a 205/40 17" tire on a 17x7.5" rim with 4x100 bolt pattern, if I remember correctly. Not sure on the bolt pattern.

Hey, welcome here. I think this would be better suited in Aftermarket though...

Yeah I have a 2001 Civic and it's a decent car to drive around. 2000 is 6th gen though right?

Man I miss my first car. A silver '83 Honda Civic 4 dr. Had a CVCC 1.5 carb motor and did all of 150kph. I remember racing and beating Fieros in the twisties. I think that would be cool with 17" wheels and lo-pros. Of course a B18C swap would give it the go to go with the show. What was this thread about? Oh yeah. I think the new Civics are nicer than the Accords. ANd they last forever if you don't beat 'em too hard. My wife's '87 Accord had 413 000 kms on it never been apart. Well ok, I took the valve cover off a couple time to adjust the valves. I'm sorry was I ranting? I think it will look nice Civic guy.
