I know they have a 935 racing version (so awesome!!) but not sure about the Cam-Am 917/10.

French Page, click on "sons moteurs" and scroll down to Porsche. No notation on which 917 it is, NA or turboed.

The Olive Garden Speed World GT Ferrari is one of the best sounding engines ever.

lexus1581
how about the f312 f1 car... incredible

mrgokou
that car sounded incredible. I've always loved the way boxters sound at idle. Anywone agree?

who doesnt agree is more like it... porsches are a thing of beauty when running and idle :awf:

Sia Bani
Amazing...haha, I had it on loop and I thought it went on forever!

Apple_Jacks
I love the way my cars engine sounds, 3.3L flat six with a decent cam, it sounds awesome at idle.

another car that sounds really good is the straight six in a supra, if it were not for the BOV's RB's supra would be one of the best sounding cars I personally know.

Rotary Boy
WTF, dude. the supra sounds just fine, that BOV is a nice one too, sorry my car doesn't whistle like yours

and 20B's are by far the meanest sounding motors around, jesus padillas 20B drag car(NA 20B first gen) sounds like a funny car at idle and a sawzall at high RPM. my 20B has alot of lopeing uneasy rumble at idle, but goes pure chainsaw at highRPMs and it just screams. I love the sound.

kcg795
Well, to be honest, I wasn't too impressed with the sound of that one rotary engine. Perhaps maybe Rotary Boy can record a clip of his RX 7 and show it to us? The other sound was too echoey and the guy controlling the throttle was just too fast and didn't really give any time to actually listen to it idle. So, if Rotary Boy can do us all a favor, he can go out with a high quality tape recorder and microphone, record the engine at idle, and record it at cruising RPMs, and record it's RED LINE sound.

Just a suggestion.

eric rxb
KCG what is wrong with you? That thing was amazing.

It was in a garage and in neutral. It's also a race engine and revs VERY FAST and also can't just stay at redline in neutral.

Neither can RB's.

lexus1581
the rotary revving was amazingly amazing

eric rxb
complaining is all kcg seems to do

kcg795
Well, like I said, there just wasn't enough time to actually listen to it idle. The echos are bad. It'd be nice to hear it at a steady idle RPM, and a steady cruising RPM, and a high RPM.

911GT2
But modulation would be literally impossible unless actually moving, in which case all you'd hear is wind. The engine accelerates in revs wayyy too fast. And running that at redline without a load on it is a very stupid (not to mention expensive) thing to do.

masestylez
If your buying a 787B to idle you have issues. :)

kcg795
I guess it was just the sound quality in the recording itself. When I actually did hear it idle, it sounded like a V8. Is that what rotaries sound like? I'm not really complaining or bitching or anything like that. I kinda would like to hear some more sounds of rotary engines. I think the rotary technology is a fantastic idea. Good way to get more power for a small size. I'll see about googling some sounds off the internet of rotaries. I heard one sound of a rotary. I'm kinda hungry for more sounds. Ya see?

Toughguy
The 26B idles at about 3500-4000rpm! Carbon fibre apex seals don`t seal well below that rpm. In any case, that sound clip gave me goosebumps. You guys want to hear a killer motor? This is the new 1600bhp Arrows F1 motor.

Toughguy :rally:

That didn`t work! GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!
How about this?

Toughguy
Damn!!!!! It`s cropping the url!!!! WTF? Ok then ENTER the site and go to SOUND under MULTIMEDIA on the left. Select ENGINE and then select the proper file. (there`s only two of them)

Toughguy :rally:

911GT2
F1 engines certainly don't have 1600hp. Closer to 8-900.

Maybe it's a turboed one from the 80s...in qualifying spec they made close to 1200 hp out of 1.5 L.

911GT2
Hmm..that site quotes it as 1600 when no Grand Prix engine has ever made close to that power...

Toughguy
OK guys, you have to listen to it ok! Trust me on this one! Of course there is no such thing as a 1600bhp F1 motor........ arggg....... just listen to the sound clip will ya. JEEEZ!

Toughguy :humpy:

lexus1581
nice find toughguy. I love the way F1 cars sound at any moment. BTW, i love the guy narrated it haha. :badass:

Pennzoil GT-R
i love the F40 and GT40 engine notes. i had forgotten how good they sound in real life. another fantastic car is the Prodrive 550 maranello. i recorded a sound clip of that when i went to watch it race. if anyone can host it?

911GT2
Haha, I'll listen, I'll listen!

BTW, I'm probably gonna get to hear one of those bastards live (Canadian GP bitchez)

911GT2
Oh dear lord that was annoying...
