View Thread: Time to get Sirius

lsr78
Just got my birthday present from my gf installed last Saturday.

It is really, really great. If you like music at all I highly recommend picking one up. No more listening to the overplayed crap on Clear Channel owned stations or having to look for CDs. Just a good mix of all kinds of music.

Right now Best Buy has the Kenwood controller and RF Modulator on sale for $75 and they throw in the satellite tuner for free (It is usually $150.) Just add the antannae at around $50 and you are ready to go.

doesn't it cost something per month?

Hey, pretty cool!

$12.95, but well worth it, I think. (XM is $9.95 but has commercials on some of the music stations where Sirius is 100% commercial free musci) Have already heard some new music that I know I never would have found otherwise.

Plus a comedy channel, news, weather, etc.

There is something nice about being able to listen to heavy metal, jump over to classical jazz, go to some old school rap, basically whatever mood you are in.

You can stream the channels on Sirius and XM websites if you want to see what they have.

that sounds really interesting. How big is the antenna? Will it fit on the stealth normally? Or will it stick out big time?

masestylez
I can get you free service with some hardware mods ;) It is worth the money though, good stations too.

lsr78
The antennae is small, just a little black rounded piece of plastic.

Not more than a couple inches long.

My deck is XM ready but I don't know about Sirius.

masestylez
XM is on most new Pioneer decks, and all premier, I don't know about Sirius tho

lsr78
the antennae are exactly the same. programming very similar also. alpine, pioneer, and sony run xm. there is also a cool delphi unit for xm. kenwood and <puke> jensen </puke> run sirius.

i enjoy listening to music while driving, but i haven't had stereo for the last year or more, so i really don't care anymore. if i began to care enough, i bring a cd-player with me and listen to some Dave Matthews Band... or some other stuff like that

EEK!

nm, clicked on the wrong tab's reply button... nothing to see here folks

masestylez
I don't know if i'm going to put a stereo in zie 7, I might go nuts with a system if I put anything in there, depends on if I get a second car or not.

Ya don't gotta go crazy.

A deck and two pairs of sixes will get you good sound.

I've got 6.5s/4.5s (biggest that would fit without cutting metal). Considering the shitty acoustics of my car, they sound really good.

masestylez
Yeah but when I get into car stereo I go all the way, it's a bad habit, but its usually other peoples money.
