I am watching some carshow on tnn right now, and they have this new electric exhaust outlet regulator, so bascially, you can switch the piping from muffler outlet, to straight pipe with a switch inside the cabin. They cost 400 each though, but I think this is the ultimate invention for exhausts.

or it could be :woowoo:

Somewhat like the variable exhaust on TURBOZ's Stealth.

Except that would involve twice the piping.

what does turboz have?

A-Tech
yea, ive heard of those before.

I think Tim Allen put something like that on a Chevy Express van.

a new type of variable exhast is also avalable for the Nissan SE-R spec V. I't pretty nice i think. Makes u not want to get an aftermarket system. Check it out on the Nissan website. They have a video on it.

I don't see the point, but then again I have not cats on my car, so I guess I can't see the point becuase I am totally deafened and that takes all my concentration away

but back on topic, these things are not new, but they don't tend to work real well, becuase they heat of having to be so close to your cat, kills them pretty quickly

It's cheap valve timing basically, instead of controlling the exhaust valves closing point to keep fuel in the chamber you use decresing amounts of backpressure, has a negative effect on performance but nothing compared to sending half your fuel out the exhaust, and worlds simpler then variable valve timing,
I could envision a simple iris door setup doing the same thing, gives me a few ideas really...

I think we're thinking of the same thing....

It's called an electic exhaust cutout. They're only about $100 a piece.

You have an exhaust cutout put in your exhaust before the muffler ($35), and instead ofa cap that you manually unscrew, there is a motor and metal valve that opens and closes with a switch.

I think we watched the same show though. Was it on their project truck with the 572 crate motor (620hp)?

I'll try to find a link for the electric cutout.

Heres a link http://www.ftforce.com/exhaustchevcaprimp.htm

It's the second product down. $134 a piece.

Heres another one with a diagram http://www.clubgpstore.com/itemview.asp?itemid=91

It's a switch in my car that says sport or tour. In sport mode, it frees up the exhaust a little more, makes it a LITTLE louder, and stiffens my suspension. In tour, the suspension gets loose, and the exhaust is a little more restricted. Not gonna matter much when I gut my pre-cats this weekend. :) :bootyshak

Worth making it yourself for that price.
