View Thread: just ordered a lift

I just ordered an OME 3" heavy load lift for my Cruiser. I stoked. I'm planning on putting it on the weekend after next. I've already got some new wheels and now I just need to get some new 33x12.50 BFG MTR's. Yeah! I can't wait.

I want a Land Cruiser so bad, too bad they go for too high of prices here. :(

Where exactly is Magrathea anyway?

Their resale is a little pricey but it is so for a reason. They really are built tough. There aren't many things that I can really count on in life, but my Cruiser is one of them. If price is a concern, just go a little older. Mileage doesn't phase them, that's why you see so many with over 300,000 and even 400,000 miles. I got mine with 118,000 and it was just a baby. Now I have to go back to planning my July wheeling trip to the San Juans.:D

diesel_soot
San Juans? Ive been going there for 18 years, every summer. Always go off roading also!

Magrathea? Hehe ask Arthur Dent, I would assume he'd know. I really live in North Idaho(damnit). Any jap car however goes for way too high (ex: Stock 1989 CRX, $5000).

diesel_soot,

Yeah, I think we had this same conversation on C&D a while back, or maybe it was here. You also were familiar with the road near Crested Butte where I got into some trouble with my 944.

There's a North Idaho now? :headscrat

masestylez
Yeah North Idaho and South Idaho and vastly different.

I was planning on installing my lift today. Last night however, upon closer inspection of the boxes, I realized that they had accidentally sent me two sets of front coil springs! Argghhh! I posted my dilemna on a Land Cruiser forum that I frequent and this morning I had gotten an email from the owner of the company apologizing and telling me that the correct springs will be shipped Monday morning. Nice! That's some incredible customer service. I didn't even have a chance to call them. My next day off is in two weekends, and I plan on doing the install then. After that I think I need to install some :woowoo:

Yeah, I think there's a sign at our border with Idaho that says, "Are you sure?"

I believe they changed that to a sign reading something like "If you can see the back of this sign your fucked"

Well I installed my lift over the weekend. I've got 3" in front and a touch more in the back. Although I didn't do it for the looks, I have to admit, it looks pretty sweet. My 33's look pretty puny now. The ride is awesome. I ordered the heavy load springs which have a huge load rating (which I can't remember off of the top of my head) and I'm surprised at how nice they ride. They are a touch firmer feeling but completely controll body roll in the corners. The springs are progressive rate and do an awesome job of being subtle but allowing you take some bit hits. It also articulates now better too. The clip of Stormin Norman in the clips thread shows what my truck looks like with 33's and the same lift. The only thing that I didn't have time to do yet was replace some bushings on the front control arms to adjust the caster. I'll post some pictures the next time I have a chance. :D I'm thinking of doing the Toyota Land Cruiser Association's Cruise Moab in May. 3 days of trail running with some other activities. Plus a couple extra days for some mtn biking and camping. Moab is awesome in May.

Cool man, congrats. Pics! (yes, I read about the clip)

I don't have a digital camera so I'll snap some shots off of a new roll tommorrow, then burn the rest up in Vermont this week. Hopefully I'll get the film developed early next week then post some shots.

OK, here are some pictures of the truck with the lift.

The picture doesn't do it much justice I feel. To give you some perspective, those are 33's on the truck. Here are some more, BTW that's Lake Superior in the background.
