check out the Car-o-Scope (http://cartalk.cars.com/Survey/Results/Psychographics/)

mine says

Boy oh boy, Dave, you picked a vehicle which is just about perfect for you. Congratulations! For example, when compared to other people who own a Triumph Spitfire, you're just about the same in terms of your educational level, status consciousness, and your income.

and suggests the following:

1. Peugeot 505
2. Volkswagen Corrado
3. Mercury Mystique
4. Ford Probe
5. Plymouth Duster

Corrados are cool...

I knew a guy who had one - nice but amazingly overpriced when new.

TURBOZ
I just did mine. We'll know tomorrow what it says. I've done one before, but forgot what it said.

Sia Bani
Same here.

masestylez
I've only ever seen wrecked Corrados for soem reason.

Sia Bani
I'm better suited having a camaro apparently.

masestylez
Yeah it says I should have either
1. Buick Roadmaster
2. Chevrolet Camaro
3. Oldsmobile Cutlass
4. Mercury Cougar
5. Ford Mustang

but whatever gets teh car talk guys off

silverTA2002
We'll see what this thing says, but for some reason, I think I know what I want better than this thing.

Mr.Dave
They said I care about my car too much, am not educated enough, worry about statis too much, and am too cheap for a VW Golf (TDI). Perhaps I should heed their advice and get a Camaro or Mustang....nah.

TURBOZ
It said about the same for me. i dont make enough, and should drive a camaro or a cutlass. Well, I've already had a camaro, so we're gonna try something new!

01 civic
1. Volvo 760
2. Mitsubishi Diamante
3. BMW 325i
4. BMW 528
5. Honda Prelude

Hack, I don't even know what a 760 is, I'll look it up right now. They said I care about my car too much, I wash my car once a month, and don't even talk about the interior. HAHAHA :?:

masestylez
I think they just pick 5 random cars or soemthing.

scubie02
They didn't have my car so I didn't bother.

Biggest Load of Crap....ever
(said in proper "comic book guy" satire - Simpsons reference)

http://cartalk.cars.com/Survey/Results/Psychographics/Caroscopes/588953x3017.html

"Boy oh boy, Will, you picked a vehicle that just isn't quite right for you. You're compatible with your Honda Prelude only in terms of the extent to which you're a cheapskate.

When compared to other people who drive a Honda Prelude, other Honda Prelude owners are far more willing to take risks than you are, you're a bit too young to be driving this vehicle, you're just too educated to be driving a Honda Prelude, you are a little too much of a snob, you make way too much money to be driving a Honda Prelude, you are much more objective and logical, and you care a bit too much about your car compared to other Honda Prelude owners"

They tell me I'm too YOUNG to drive a Prelude but then give me this grand list of cars I should be driving:

1. Buick Roadmaster
2. Peugeot 505
3. Infiniti I30
4. Acura Vigor
5. Oldsmobile Cutlass

What the fuck!? These people are idiots...

mustangdriver
That damn thing bugged me, so I sent some "feedback"

"Greetings. First of all let me say I love the idea of the ole Car-O-Scope. But my god, it was just about the most inane bunch of stuff I've ever read. I have a 2001 Honda Prelude which evidently I am too "young" to drive (I'm 26). Instead the all knowing Car-O-Scope gave me this list which I would "make me much happier":

1. Buick Roadmaster
2. Peugeot 505
3. Infiniti I30
4. Acura Vigor
5. Oldsmobile Cutlass

I'm too young for a sport coupe...but a Roadmaster!!! That's where it's at! That car will take the place of my weekend racer quite well (SCCA Racing, which according to my "risk taking" attributes, I would not take part in).

I know it's all for fun, but if you're going to insult people, at least try to make it accurate :) And the list of potential cars...ummm...could be a little more updated. They haven't made an Acura Vigor for years. Some people I know couldn't even fill out a Car-O-Scope because their car isn't listed (Subaru WRX).

Enjoy your day,

William Byrd"

Mr.Dave
Here's what they had to say about me... the whole report:

"Boy oh boy, Dave, you picked a vehicle that just isn't quite right for you. You're compatible with your Volkswagen Golf only in terms of your tolerance for taking risks and your income.

When compared to other people who drive a Volkswagen Golf, you're a bit too young to be driving this vehicle, you're, well--to be generous--a bit too frugal, your educational level is a bit lower than that of other Volkswagen Golf owners, you are a little too much of a snob, you're a bit too 'touchy-feely', and you care a bit too much about your car compared to other Volkswagen Golf owners

For your further edification, here's a little further elucidation on these personality characteristics.

OK, there's frugal--and then there's cheap. And you're cheap.

Gee, this is interesting. Car-O-Scope has determined that you are a person who is quite concerned with status. And yet, you're driving a Volkswagen Golf. Other Volkswagen Golf drivers just aren't as much of a snob as you are. We're going to have to do something about this, now aren't we?

Some of us have an overdeveloped left brain and some have an overdeveloped right brain. And your strength is definitely on the right: the more creative, touchy-feely side. This is not a bad thing. The world certainly does need poets, musicians and people to work on the world psychic network.

My dear, it appears that other Volkswagen Golf owners just don't care as much about their cars as you do. You're going to have to lighten up on this if you insist on driving a Volkswagen Golf. But, since this is probably a basic character flaw and therefore unchangeable, you probably will have to buy a new car to get your carma in balance.

So, let's look at your compatibility profile vis-a-vis the Chevrolet Camaro. If you dumped that Volkswagen Golf and got yourself a Chevrolet Camaro, you'd be a lot happier.

For example, you'd be almost perfectly compatible in terms of your gender, your tolerance for taking risks, your educational level, your income, and how much you really care about your car.

In addition, you'd have pretty good compatibility in terms of your age, the extent to which you're a cheapskate, status consciousness, and your grasp of reality."

Sorry, that was a bit long. Now, is it me... or does this fall under the stereotypical "you have a 2 year degree (low education), you have a small-moderate income, you care about your car, and I think you're a snob... Camaro time!!" Simply put what the car knack is saying that I have to make up for other shortcomings (use your imagination) by getting a sporty car. This is the reason my dad got a 350Z, because of people like you CARSCOPE!!!

The only thing wrong with my car is that if I ever got it on, the woman's gonna get it in a very uncomfortable place....

"What? Like in the back of a Volkswagen?" :humpy:

masestylez
I think they just like to insult you. Who knows. They called me a snob too. Damn ghetto websites. :D

Mr.Dave
Troy, apparently I'm too young, dumb, and poor to own my car too!

RSXDriver
Funny how it says the Integra's age is over mine, isn't it? Honestly, I think this Car-O-Scope thing is a little off.

I guess I'm a big flake too, huh?

Mr.Dave
Honestly, I wonder what our "carsultants" drive...

masestylez
They are all 12 years old and saving up for the NOS Scooter.

Thank you! You telling us you did that just made my day. :D
