Hey guys, have you missed me. Do to this 56K connection, I have been pretty infrequent over the holidays. Luckily with the start of my co-op job, this will soon end, though unlike some people, I'll have work to do,so I'll have to limit my time on to about 4 hours a day.


Anyway, I'm back home and I have ditched the restoration idea I had due to money and time. So I'm working out a deal with my parents for a weekend sports car so they can have a fun car to go do things in and I can have a good car to autox and or work on. The requirements that the car must satisfy are:

for me:
quick 0-60 sub 9 seconds
2000-4000 USD or upwards of 6000 if its a great deal and my dad will help pay
reliable
easy on the insurance (relatively speaking, its no Camry and i understand that)

for parents:
t-top/convertible
reliable (they do not want to pay for my borken car when I have to leave it at home)
something they'd enjoy cruising in



right now the front runner is the miata. There are alot of them, they're relatively cheap and they're a convertible. Now I want to hear what you guys think.

I'd go Miata but a second generation MR2 with T-tops would be nice.

Also on the cheaper end a Toyota AE86 would be good as well. Or a 1st gen RX-7 GSL SE.

Man, more than 4 seconds isn't quick to me anymore. How jaded have I become? :)

Miata is top notch, there fast, great handling, fun, the list go's on, and why only 93-97, the 90's and wat not are still great cars!

oh, and slp, yeah the 90-92 are also in consideration. If I can though, I'd like the 1.8 over the 1.6. and getting together, i'll see if saturday is open. i'll be car shopping during the day with my dad, but i'll give you a call tomorrow and see if we can set something up.

Get a 1989 300ZX, I love those. Any of those choices would be nice though.

why not a 90 :tahoe: way faster, better handling, all around far better car, and can be had under 6 grand and a n/a z32 will smoke a turbo z31
